The Berghaus Knoydart Jacket a few months on....

A few months ago I put up a quick review of a jacket - the Berghaus Knoydart - that I had been sent to review by Go Outdoors.

This was only in the Pentlands, but it was a wild day.
After 3 months or so I thought I'd put up a qucik update on how it has performed in the last few months.   I have had it on the hill and also it has seen pretty regular use as my normal day to day
coat that I put on whenever I go out the door.

On the hill it has performed well - waterproof, well fitting and with reasonable breathability.  Nothing really breathes but this is as good as I have experienced. The fit is good too, with decent well placed pockets.

My only complaint has been the zip.  If you miss the bottom socket of the zip it can get jammed and there is that moment of panic that you have ruined the zip mechanism.  I have become very aware of needing to be extra careful each time I do the zip up to make sure that I have it placed correctly.

and at work
More than that though this is perfectly serviceable as an everyday about town jacket.  It works well on the hill as a proper mountain shell, but I have used it much more as an everyday outdoor coat to be put on when ever I leave the house.  Much of the last few months has been wet so I've had it on each day going to work.  For that it works well - it is waterproof, looks smart and has enough pockets and storage for phone and other bits and pieces.  The colour is stylish enough - my boss told me it looked good!

I have always been pretty frugal when it comes to buying outdoor gear and I had generally  perceived Berghaus as too expensive for me, but for the price this jacket is outstanding value.  I'd happy pay for this if I was looking for a new waterproof.

To summarise,  a very good jacket for the price.

Go Outdoors have a Berghaus brand page if you want to see other Berghaus products.

Glad it works for you too Chris. I must say it's value for money.
