Another Pentland Sunrise

A bit of a catch up post I suppose.  Christmas was tough.  I must have driven about 1500 miles or more: to my parents then to Marian's mum in Wiltshire, then back to Edinburgh for Hogmanay and then back to the Wirral to see my Dad again and look at nursing homes.  Family time was typically messed up, sometimes great and often frustrating.  Seeing Dad in the hospital is horrible but it is the best place for him at the moment.  I could post videos and photos of him here but that would not be appropriate.

I was back in work of Friday, getting a head start on the emails and preparation for this week.  I am approaching another work and another election with a mix of excitement and horror.  We will do it, we will run a good election for the city but there will be the usual stress, worry and pressures unappreciated by most.
Cloud coming in over Allermuir

So this morning I was up and off to the hills again.  I've got to get back to the big mountains soon.  This year I need more Munros.  Repeats or new ones, it doesn't matter but I want to get some good trips in.  Of course who knows what the year will bring.  I have no idea what will happen to my parents and what I will be called on to do or see.

I parked at Hillend just after 8am and looking to the east there were hints of a nice sunrise.  Although we are past the shortest day, the sunrise is still getting later.  Nicely up to the ridge - my legs were sore from the 5K yesterday but didn't slow me.  Unfortunately the sunrise was not as nice as it promised to be - the clouds were all wrong.  Still it was good to be there.  I always write that don't I?

my little rocky path
I went along the tops then back under the cliffs on my little secret path.  Back on to the ridge then straight down.

It was a good start to the day.  A good start to a week that I am not really relishing.
