A new year...the same hills

It might be New Year's Day, but it was still a Sunday morning so I was up in the Pentlands, a little later than normal but still getting some of the sunrise.

I didn't go all the way to Allermuir, just along to Caerketton then back down the muddy path.  It was good to be out though to blow away the cobwebs and to get the year started appropriately - on my local hills.

It was a tough year that 2011.  Work was mental with the elections and referendum .....  my Dad got worse and ended up in hospital.  There were good bits too.  It was satisfying that the elections and referendum went well and we had some great mountain days.  Blaven and La Maroma stand out in my mind as great days when I look back on the literal high points.   Regular trips into the Pentlands kept me sane too and always delivered something - rest, refreshment or just some space.  Getting the articles into TGO was great.

I've no idea what 2012 will bring.  Some of it will be tough I am sure - my Dad will not be getting any better and there are more elections.  I hope there are also good bits:  hills, laughter, sunshine.
